REDBUD
SUMMER
INSTITUTE

for philosophy & ecology

‎

Why a summer
school?

Let’s talk about the future

In an age of crises, the Redbud Summer Institute will create a space for philosophical questions and practical solutions.

Research indicates that philosophy boosts critical thinking skills more than any other discipline. We will combine these skills with place-based knowledge of local history, ecosystems, and farming practices.

Students will receive a certificate of completion at the end of the program.

‎

Where we will meet

The summer school will take place in and around Oswego, NY

Some of our meetings will take place at the Fallbrook Recreation Center and some at the Rice Creek Field Station, both at SUNY Oswego; we will also go on field trips to local natural areas and farms.

‎

When we will meet

The summer school will take place June 30–July 2 and July 6–7

We will meet three days, take a break for the long weekend, and then come back for two more days. Full schedule TBA.

‎

What we will do

Discuss deep questions, go on hikes, visit farms

We are planning a variety of interesting learning experiences for the students, including a visit to Silver Tree Forest Farm, nature hikes, and meetings with local experts.
